The sound of silence.

Blogger is not currently sending me notifications of responses to posts. If you leave a comment, and I don't reply, I'm not ignoring you. I won't see it unless I log in here.

Also, I might not be in too much for a couple of days. I have a cold which should be abating soon. I've passed the 'face-like-a-salted-slug' stage but still have a cough that sounds like migrating geese. I'm afraid to go outside in case I find a V-formation of them behind me. Note to the ladies: we men only play these things for all they're worth when you're around. When you're not looking, we're perfectly capable of looking after ourselves.

Perhaps it's all those skeptics sending me negative vibes. Anyone know how to make a tinfoil helmet?

Anyway, I'm going to apply the tried and tested whisky treatment. I'll still have a cold, but I won't care. It's best I don't post in that condition though.

Aww, poor Rom!

If you heat your whiskey in the microwave before you drink it, does that make it medicinal? And if you drink it while you're wearing your tinfoil helmet, does that make you completely loony?

I need for you to get better by the 23rd so we can all read about your experience with the "replay." Do you think it'll happen?

Get well soon!

Ooooh, when I was but a wee cowgirl, my mama used to give me a concoction of bourbon whiskey, honey and lemon juice - heavy on the bourbon. Don't remember if it really worked to alleviate the cold symptoms but it may have just relaxed me enough to be able to get some rest. I still make it when I'm feeling a little "woogy."

Romulus, I've been getting that a lot lately. Blogger does this a bit from time to time.

Greenyflower and Dr. S - how can you even suggest desecrating whisky! If you're ever in Scotland, for your own safety, don't say those things!

I'll be fine by the 23rd. The cold has gone, although it's taken my voice with it. Pity I can't 'do' telepathy. Those idiot drivers have to work out what I'm mouthing at them and I don't think they can.

Dikkii - a ghost in the machine, perhaps? ;)

Those idiot drivers can still read sign language. I wave a particular finger at them all the time, and they totally get it. Hope you feel better.

Hi SW. Cold is gone, but throat still feels like it's been cleaned out with a rasp. my voice is coming back, so bellows of 'Idiot' will soon be heard again across the streets here.

The whisky did the trick. Didn't cure me, but the time passed quickly.

I discovered recently a very good cure for a sore throat is a combination of vinegar and honey. The vinegar kills the bacteria in the throat, and the honey makes it a bit palatable. Not too bad if you use it as a salad dressing. The vinegar in dill pickles is effective in preventing food poisoning, too, did you know that?

Vinegar's worth a try. I can drink that anyway (Italian ancestry, you know).

Barley Wine is a good painkiller too. I have some of that handy.
