Hiatus

My principal computer has just decided to trash its hard disk and everything on it. Fortunately, since I have experienced this before, I am pretty regular about backups. So I haven't lost much.

However, it takes a long time to put all those programs back, not least because it's two years or more since I last installed them and can't remember where all the disks are.

So there will be a delay.

If you sent me Email in the last 24 hours, assume it's lost forever and resend.

OUCH!!!
Been there.
Done that.
All too recently!
Not fun.

I now keep all back-up CDs in their own pouch
BUT
also invested in an external hard drive that is programmed to back-up EVERYTHING nightly.

Am hoping to NOT have to learn if that makes for an easier and quicker re-load.

Ouch.

Do you anticipate, in time, that you will run across the ghost of your old machine?

:)

Jude- it was your recent crash, among others, that caused my increased vigilance on the backups.

Tom - I've wondered about such things. There are reports of ghost trains, ghost cars, even ghost planes. No reports yet of ghost computers, but you never know.

How a lump of metal can leave a ghost is a mystery. The only way I can see it happening is as a projection by a spirit who was attached to that object. Maybe, then, we will see a ghost Gameboy at some stage!

a ghost playing a GameGoy maybe? Or one sitting at a computer?
Why must they ALL be floating up/down a stairway or corridor!

PS: glad my crash was good for SOMETHING!!
