The hard sell

Every time I log in to Blogger, it presents me with a screen extolling the virtues of Blogger Plus.

I know I'll have to upgrade one day. I'm just working up the courage to hit that button.

My experience of upgrades so far has been to overlay a perfectly working piece of software with some bug-ridden, bloated program filled with features I have no idea how to use.

I hope this one isn't like that.

Waiting until someone's around who knows what they're doing sounds like a good idea. It also gives me an excuse to ignore the upgrade for a few more days.

I just signed up--didn't want to post as Mr. Anonymous--and of course went directly to beta. It or I lost the blog as I was creating it. Now I am waiting for help from the powers that be, since I can find the blog, and it is clearly mine, but doesn't show up on my dashboard.

I've yet to hear of anyone who had a trouble-free upgrade. It doesn't sound promising. I wonder if there's a way to back up the entire blog before stepping off the virtual cliff?

Victor, what do you mean when you say it doesn't show up on your dashboard? Are you saying you don't have a dashboard at all? If you do have one, click on View Blog next to your Template tab. Is your blog there? If so, can you tell if it's the old one or the new one? If it's the old one, click on Pick a New Template and go through the process again. Don't worry. Your blog is still there, and you will retrieve it with the right steps.

I'm on the other side of the pond and am about to go to bed, so I may not be the fastest help you can find. But I can recommend two guys who will be MUCH faster than the blog gods. Try Avatar at

www.bloggeratto.blogspot.com/

or Phydeaux3 at

Both are very nice guys whose mission in life appears to be helping people with their Beta problems. They're good, fast, free, and willing. Tell Avatar I sent you.

No, I have a dashboard. It is just that the blog I created when I created my account--last week--is not on it. I created another http://toadgone.blogspot.com but I can't use the old one (at http://runawaytoad.blogspot.com ). I think the issue is username driven (because I was trying to decide how I wanted my email to look at the same time).
